Pet Euthanasia

A difficult decision

Saying goodbye to a treasured companion is never easy.

Unfortunately, pets have shorter lives than our own, and those painful goodbyes are inevitable. At St. Pete Veterinary Hospital, we understand and are here to provide compassionate care during this difficult time. We proudly provide both in-clinic and in-home pet euthanasia in St. Petersburg to meet your needs.

Whether your pet’s quality of life has decreased due to a terminal illness, serious injury, or old age, our caring veterinarians can help make their final moments serene and pain-free. Whether you choose to say goodbye in our in-clinic euthanasia room or at home, we will give your pet the dignified passing they deserve.

In-Home Euthanasia

With in-home euthanasia, you will be able to say goodbye in the privacy of your home rather than in our clinic. This option is ideal when your pet is too sick to travel or too large to load in your vehicle. It’s also the most private option.

Upon arriving at your home, we will meet with you to discuss your pet and your concerns. We will perform a brief exam and help you determine whether the time is right for humane euthanasia. The choice is yours to make, but we will take the time to discuss our findings with you so you can feel confident in your decision.

If you decide to proceed, we’ll ask you to settle in a comfortable spot in your home with your pet. When you are ready, we will administer a sedative that will allow your pet to drift into a deep, peaceful sleep. This eliminates pain and anxiety while ensuring that your pet is completely at peace. Once it has taken effect, the euthanasia drug will be administered. It takes just seconds to take effect, and we will let you know when your beloved pet has passed.

In-Clinic Euthanasia

We also have a euthanasia room where we provide compassionate in-clinic euthanasia services. This room provides a cozy, private area where you can say goodbye to your beloved companion. The process is similar to that of in-home euthanasia, only we will go through the steps in our clinic rather than at your home.

Deciding between in-clinic and in-home euthanasia is a personal choice. No matter which option you choose, we will be by your side every step of the way. We are also here to help you determine which option is best for your beloved companion. We may make recommendations based on their current health and condition. However, the final choice is yours to make, and our team will honor your decision.
