If you plan on traveling with your pet, you may need to obtain a travel certificate.

Whether you are traveling within the United States or internationally, these certificates are often required by airlines. In some cases, you may even need a certificate when traveling by car.

As a USDA-certified veterinarian, St. Pete Veterinary Hospital is authorized to issue pet travel certificates in St. Petersburg. We are also here to lend a hand when it comes to making sure all the requirements for traveling with your furry friend are met.

When You Might Need a Travel Certificate

Image
A travel certificate is a common requirement when traveling with (or shipping) a pet by air. Every airline has its own requirements, though, so it is best to reach out to them as soon as possible to find out exactly what is needed to bring your pet along for the journey. When traveling internationally, it is important to note, too, that every destination country has its own rules and requirements. Some are much stricter than others when it comes to traveling with animals, so we recommend doing your research as early as possible.

Obtaining a domestic travel certificate is a straightforward process that generally takes little time to complete. The process tends to be much more in-depth for international travel certificates, though, and could take several weeks.
